Performance Differences Local Pre-Weaned Kits Which Doe Fed Complete Ration Containing Palm Kernel Cake and Copra Meal

Abstract

Pre-wean is an important phase in raising rabbit. One of the problems in pre-wean phase is that rabbits in lactating period do not get enough nutrition to produce milk to support weaning kits maximum growth. This can lead to low productivity in rabbit farm. Complete ration is the solution for this problem. The objective of this experiment was to investigate kits performance differences which doe fed complete ration containing palm kernel cake and copra meal. The experimental diets were: R1 (complete ration containing copra meal and field grass), R2 (complete ration containing copra meal, field grass and Leucaena leucocehepala), R3 (complete ration containing copra meal, field grass and Ipomoea batatas L), R4 (complete ration containing palm kernel cake, field grass and Leucaena leucochepala), and R5 (complete ration containing palm kernel cake, field grass and Ipomoea batatas L). A block randomized design was used in this research with five treatments and two blocks. The blocks were the kit from the doe, block 1 was doe with 3-5 kits and block 2 was doe with 6-8 kits. Data were analyzed with Analysis of Varian (ANOVA) and any significant differences on treatments were tested further using Duncan test. The result of the experiment showed that all treatments did not affect does dry matter intake, kits birth weight, three weeks kits weight, and kits daily average gain. Blocks did affect the kits birth weight, three weeks kits weight, and kits daily average gain where kits on block one gave more weight than in block two. The conclusion of this experiment was ration containing palm kernel cake gave equal performance with ration containing copra meal.

Periode pra-sapih merupakan periode yang penting dan sangat menentukan performans kelinci selanjutnya. Anak periode pra-sapih memerlukan air susu yang baik kualitasnya dan cukup jumlahnya. Induk kelinci memerlukan ransum yang baik untuk dapat menghasilkan susu berkualitas baik dalam jumlah yang cukup bagi pertumbuhan optimal anaknya. Ransum yang baik adalah ransum yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan induk kelinci untuk hidup pokok dan berproduksi yaitu produksi susu dan pemulihan setelah melahirkan. Untuk dapat menghasilkan ransum yang baik maka diperlukan bahan penyusun yang baik pula. Bungkil inti sawit merupakan salah satu sumber protein potensial untuk menggantikan bungkil kelapa sebagai sumber protein konvensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan bungkil inti sawit sebagai pengganti bungkil kelapa dan mengetahui performans anak kelinci yang induknya diberi pakan mengandung bungkil inti sawit dengan hijauan yang berbeda.
