      Abstract
The problem of seaweed seed quality deterioration that come from nature has become a major problem in seaweed farming. This can be handled by several techniques and one of them is tissue culture. The success of tissue culture to produce seeds through callus induction can not be separated from culture medium and plant growth regulator (PGR). In this study, we performed several combinations of plant growth regulator on two basic medium to get the best combination in callus induction. The combination of plant growth regulator BAP+IAA in Conway (CW) and Provasoli Enriched Seawater (PES) basic medium did not give the significant effect on the growth of callus. While in the PES medium, combination of plant growth regulator BAP+NAA gave the significant effect on the growth of callus but not in CW medium. The results of this study indicated that the concentration of BAP 1 mg / ℓand NAA 0 mg / ℓin PES medium was the best for callus growth.
