The Inoculation of Arbuscular mycorrhizal Fungi and Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria on Vegetative Propagation of Stylosanthes guianensis by Shoot Cuttings
Abstract
Stylosanthes guianensis has potential as a forage but the development of Stylo is still a problem for farmer because it is very difficult to get seeds. Therefore, vegetative propagation technique by shoot cuttings will be useful. Stylo in vegetative planting will be combined with the addition of Arbuscular Mycoorhizal Fungi (AMF) and phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB). PSB can release bound-phosphate making it available (Karti, 2006). AMF can improve nutrient absorption, increase resistance to drought, resistance to pathogens attacking the roots, and produce regulating hormones and growth substances (Karti, 2005) to improve the growth of Stylo.
