Abstract

The general objective of this study was to analyze fish consumption, nutritional status and learning achievement of 4th grade elementary school children in coastal and non coastal areas. The research was conducted by using Cross Sectional Study design and implemented in September to Desember 2011 in Tanjung Pasir and Ciriung III elementary schools. Samples were determined by purposive sampling, 30 students from coastal and non coastal areas were chosen. Amount of fish consumption in coastal areas (57.6 g) was higher than non coastal areas (32.6 g). Most student in coastal areas (43.3%) and in non coastal areas (76.7%) were caregorized as normal based on BMI for age. There was no significant association between fish consumption with nutritional status. There was a significant association between nutritional status with learning achievement (height for age r=0.320, p<0.05 and BMI for age r=0.255, p<0.05). There was a significant association between fish consumption with learning achievement (p<0.05).
