      Abstract
      Public interest in skin care has increased the research on natural products which can affect the activity of tyrosinase. Aims of those study were to find natural substances which have less side effect and good clinical result. Aloe vera is not only relatively easy to be cultivated, but also has been listed in WHO Medicinal Plants Priority List. Study on phytochemical analysis of aloe vera powder and the affect of aloe vera powder in tyrosinase activity has been done. The aims of the present study were to analyze photochemical compound in aloe vera powder and measure its percent inhibition in tyrosinase activity. Phytochemical compounds contained in aloe vera powder were alkaloids, saponins, and steroids. The percent inhibition value of aloe vera powder at a concentration of 12 500 ppm and 25 000 ppm were -46.58% and -42.45% respectively to tyrosinase activity. In contrast, the value of percent inhibition aloe vera powder concentration of 50 000 ppm and 100 000 ppm were 1.02% and 83.26% respectively to tyrosinase activity. These results indicated that low concentration of aloe vera powder as activator and high concentration of Aloe vera powder as inhibitor
       
      Minat masyarakat dalam perawatan kulit telah meningkatkan penelitian mengenai bahan alami yang dapat mempengaruhi kerja enzim tirosinase. Penelitian tersebut bertujuan untuk mencari bahan alami yang memiliki efek samping sedikit dan hasil klinis yang baik. Lidah buaya tidak hanya tanaman yang relatif mudah dibudidayakan tetapi juga telah tercantum dalam Daftar Tanaman Obat Prioritas WHO. Penelitian mengenai analisis fitokimia tepung lidah buaya dan pengaruhnya terhadap aktivitas enzim tirosinase telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis senyawa fitokimia yang terkandung di dalam tepung lidah buaya dan mengukur daya hambat tepung lidah buaya terhadap aktivitas enzim tirosinase. Senyawa fitokimia yang terkandung dalam tepung lidah buaya adalah alkaloid, saponin, dan steroid. Nilai persen daya hambat enzim tirosinase dengan penggunaan tepung lidah buaya pada konsentrasi 12 500 ppm dan 25 000 ppm secara berturut-turut adalah -46.58% dan -42.45%. Sebaliknya, nilai persen daya hambat pada penggunaan tepung lidah buaya konsentrasi 50 000 ppm dan 100 000 ppm secara berturut-turut adalah 1.02% dan 83.26%. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tepung lidah buaya pada konsentrasi kecil berperan sebagai aktivator dan pada konsentrasi tinggi berperan sebagai inhibitor aktivitas enzim tirosinase.
