The Marantaceae Petersen in Western New Guinea

Abstract

A study on the family of Marantaceae in Western New Guinea based on their morphological characters has been done. This is the first comprehensive research of this family in the area. Ten different taxa are recognized, three of which are described as new species namely Cominsia laxiflora Simbiak, Phacelophrynium gigantifolium ~biak and Phacelophrynium longiflorum Simbiak. The latter consist of two ~eties namely Phacelophrynium longiflorum var. longiflorum Simbiak and Pilacelophrynium longiflorum var. album Simbiak. One combination is proposed timely Phacelophrynium macrocephalum (K. Schum.) Simbiak. A determination ~ to genera, species and varieties and detail descriptions to all taxa are provided. Studi taksonomi komprehensif pertama tentang suku Marantaceae di kawasan Tartah Papua telah dilakukan. Studi ini berdasarkan ciri morfologi. Disimpulkan di kawasan ini terdapat sepuluh taksa berbeda dikenaIi, tiga di antaranya dideskripsikan sebagai jenis baru yaitu Cominsia laxif/ora Simbiak, Phacelophrynium gigantifolium Simbiak dr@Jhacelophrynium longiflorum Simbiak. Yang terakhir terdiri atas dua varitas yai~ Phacelophrynium longiflorum var. longiflorum Simbiak and Phacelophrynium lorfjijlorum var. album Simbiak. Satu kombinasi baru diusulkan yaitu PhQcelophrynium macrocephalum (K. Schum.) Simbiak. Kunei determinasi marga, jer:¥>, varitas dan diskripsi yang rinei untuk semua taksa disajikan. Analisis fil~enetik antar taksa dalam suku ini dilakukan berdasarkan ciri-ciri morfologinya.
