      Abstract
      High and low temperature, as well as the fluctuation of water temperature are not suitable for fish farming, especially for jouvenile fishes. The using of plastic cover is one of several alternatives to maintain water temperature, as it is used in the temperature maintaining of horticulture greenhouse. Six treatments with two replications were applied in this research. The treatments were transparent plastic covers, blue plastic covers, and no plastic cover with 15 cm and 35 cm water depth. The relationship between water temperature with related variable : light intensity, relative humidity, air temperature, wind velocity, and the time was formulated with artificial neural network. Simulation results showed that in a 2x2-m2 pond by using plastic cover can increase 5oC water temperature compared no cover. Plastic cover can maintain the night water temperature but can not avoid the excessive noon temperature. Some actions that can be done to reduce the excessive temperature is opening plastic cover in the afternoon, giving aeration, and flowing fresh water. The most significant impact is flowing fresh water.
