      Abstract
      Issues concerning global warming and climate change has become a hot discussion in various circles. The impact is already felt in various places on the earth's surface in recent years, from drought, landslides, floods and other extreme events. It is therefore necessary that appropriate measures for adaptation and mitigation to minimize that impact. The research was conducted in order to identify the nature of extreme rainfall in West Java, know the distribution of trends and statistical properties of rainfall distribution, grouping according to the nature of the agricultural region ektrimnya rain. by using the Index Series Wet Days (DHB) and the maximum index series Dry Days (DHK). To the north coast of West Java in general DHK is longer than its southern region, and tends to increase. While the DHB is generally not much changed, except a few in some places.
       
      Isu tentang perubahan iklim sangat ramai dibicarakan oleh berbagai fihak baik kalangan nasional maupun internasional, Pokok permasalahannya adalah perubahan sifat iklim akan memberikan dampak besar pada berbagai sektor. Fenomena yang muncul diantaranya adanya Iklim Ekstrim berupa Kekeringan, Tanah Longsor, Banjir dan sebagainya. Sektor yang paling rentan terhadap dampak perubahan sifat iklim ekstrim ini ialah sector pertanian, sedangkan di Indonesia penelitian tentang kejadian iklim ekstrim masih sangat terbatas, sementara informasi ini sangat diperlukan untuk membantu sektor, khususnya sektor pertanian, dalam meningkatkan kemampuan dalam mengelola risiko iklim. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sifat hujan ekstrim di wilayah Jawa Barat, menentukan tren dan sebaran statistik sifat hujan ekstrim, dan menyusun peta pengelompokkan wilayah pertanian propinsi Jawa Barat menurut sifat hujan ekstrim.
