Korelasi unsur runut kobalt (Co), zink (Zn), dan besi (Fe) pada rambut dengan tingkat kecerdasan siswa SMPN 2 Cipeucang, Pandeglang
Abstract
Inorganic compounds contained in the human body could form different types of elements in a very small number called trace elements. Related to intelligence of children could be seen that the trace element is essential for human health. Lack of nutrients could lead to inhibit brain development and lower intelligence. Hair analysis provides a wealth of information about health and trace element status of the human body. This research aims to identify, correlate, and compare the trace element that cobalt (Co), zinc (Zn), and iron (Fe) of student’s hair to their intelligence level at SMPN 2 Cipeucang, Pandeglang which performed on the eighth grade students aged 14-15 years. The analysis of trace elements in student’s hair by neutron activation analysis (NAA) has been investigated. The results showed that the average concentration of Co, Zn and Fe was 442.6±19.4 μg/g, 502.6±18.3 μg/g, and 77.0±16.3 μg/g, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between the concentration of Co with student’s intelligence for the nonscience students, while the concentration of Zn and Fe had a positive correlation to intelligence for the science students, but both Zn and Fe were influenced by the sex nonscience factor’s.
