Solar concentrator and flat plate collector merged into the greenhouse effect solar dryer is the effective method to collect solar heat and to minimize the area. Both of collector types more effective to substitute a strength and a weakness of each other. The high of heat loss of flat plate area is minimized. The objective of this research is to obtain the design of green house effect (GHE) hybrid solar dryer using concentrator. The dryer technology resulted can be applied by designer as base data for scale up the dryer and will be applied by the farmer, merchant and small scale processing unit. The design of solar dryer consists of transparent building, racks inside the construction, concentrator system and the water-air heat exchanger system, tracking system of concentrator, biomass stove and air-air heat exchanger system, and fans. Dimension of dryer is 3.065 m x 1.855 m x 4.45 m. There are 144 racks inside the building. Dimension of each rack are 0.5 m x 0.6 m x 0.02 m. Concentrator system consists of stainlessteel recflector and copper absorber pipe. Dimension of relector is 1.2 m length and 1.22 m of apperture. Dimension of absorber is 1.2 m length and 0.025 m of diameter. The maximum drying capacity is 200 kg of rosella flower (.Hibiscus sabdariffa L.). To dried 32 kg of rosella flower requires drying time of 28 hours (MC. 89 % wb to 12 % wb). Average drying room temperature is 43°C and RH of 52% at the condition of solar irradiation of 320 W/m2. The additional heat from biomass combustion is 2.4 kg/hours. The uniformity of drying temperature is achieved which proved by standard deviation of drying product temperature of 2.2°C.
