Perakitan Klon Sengon Tahan Hama Boktor dalam Rangka Pengembangan Social Forestry (Procurement of Sengon Clones Resistant to Stem Borer for Social Forestry Program)
Abstract
This research aimed at procuring sengon clones resistant to stem borer to support sustainable and productive community forestry as implementation of a national social forestry program The availability of resistant clones is necessary because conventional pest control method was proved to be ineffective. This research has selected 50 resistant plus trees from 2 provenances, i.e. Kediri and Solomon, and compared them with 20 susceptible trees. Trypsin Inhibitor (TI) and Alpha-amylase Inhibitor (Al) activities of resistant trees are very significantly higher than susceptible trees, although the difference between provenances is not. Larval growth Prosiding Seminar Hasil-Hasil Penelitian IPB 2009 2 on artificial diet containing plant materials did not differ between the diet incorporating either resistant or susceptible plant materials. Development of new molecular marker using 5 microsatellite primers has detected polymorphic loci, however those loci has not been able to differentiate the resistant lines from the susceptible ones. Meanwhile tissue culture technique was able to multiply sengon Solomon explant through shoot and root induction. Subsequently sengon plantlet was able to be aclimaticized into seedlings, which was ready to be transplanted into polybag.
