      Abstract
      Cairan kulit biji mete (CNSL) merupakan hasil samping dari pengolahan kacang mete, mengandung senyawa fenolik terutama kardanol. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan rancangan proses produksi kardanol dan formulasi perekat berbasis kardanol sebagai subtitusi fenol dalam formulasi perekat fenol formaldehida. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahap yaitu : (1) analisis sifat fisika dan kimia CNSI, (2) optimasi waktu dan suhu pemanasan untuk dekarboksilasi CNSL, (3) optimasi suhu destilasi CNSL untuk pemisahan kardanol, (4) analisis perubahan kandungan senyawa fenolik dalam CNSL dengan GC-MS (Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrum), HPLC (high Performance Liquid Chromatography) dan FTIR (Fourier Transform Infared Spectroscopy), (5) optimasi pembuatan perekat berbasis kardanol, (6) aplikasi perekat untuk membuat kayu lapis dan uji keteguhan rekatnya, (7) analisis struktur resin perekat dengan FTIR, dan (8) analisis nilai tambah produksi kardanol>
       
      The cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) ia a by product obtained from the cashew nut processing, contains phenolic compounds mainly cardanol. The objective of the research was design process for cardanol production and cardanol-base adhesive formulation of CNSL as a source of phenolic compounds to substitute phenol in the phenol formaldehyde adhesive formulation.
