Disinfeksi Air Minum dengan Menggunakan Membran Ultrafiltrasi
Abstract
Chlorinatioll has "een lIsed widely in watel supplies to protect public health frOIl1 waterborne diseases. While this technique lias pro\'en effective, researches show the process of chlorinating wCfer can res lilt ill fonnation of disinfection by-proJucls. The health effects ofsome ofthese by-products are ofliflle concern. but some are sllspected to be carcinogenic or have other health effects and are therefore subject to re;;ulation in developed cOllntries. Chlorination of waler containing natural organic mailer and synthelic organic compounds. for e:rample. can resulT in the formalion ofdisinfection byproducts such as trilwlomethanes and haloacetic acids. An alternative disinfection approach for complying with disiltfection by-product requirements wOllld be the membrane ultrafiltration 171is research work investigated the ability of dimethylacetamide (DMAc) m",mbrane ultrafiltration with MWCO of app. 69.0')0 Do to remove pathogen-indiwtor organism (Escherichia coli). 171e membrane was able to produce clean. clear, and particle free penneate. 171e filtrat,: contained no pathogen-indicator organism (E. coli). The membrane process can therefore be considered as an effective app, oach ofdrinking water disinfection. while avoiding by-product fomwtion. Stable fluxes of more Ihan 120 Um2h can !Je achie.ed.
