This research was done with objectives: (i) exploration of the existing condition of cashew nut vegetative condition, its productivity and their natural environmental condition to develop the conception of the class and model for cashew nut land suitability; (ii) evaluation of the relevant relation models between environmental and biophysical characteristics and productivity of cashew nut ( iii) development of land suitability criteria for cashew nuts. The research was conducted in 9 Kabupaten in Indonesia. The choice of research location is based on a wide climatic range. In such area, the works consist of a series of observation of bio-physical environmental quality, soil sampling for laboratory analysis, and measurement of vegetative growth and production parameter. Land suitability criteria is built pursuant to productivity index of FAO [2J for the internal boundary inside the S (suitable) class, and by accounting the break-event point for the boundary between S (suitable) and N (non-suitable) ordo. Main result of this research is land suitability criteria for cashew nut. This criteria still need to be validated by continuation of this research.
