      Abstract
      identify the factors in the production process affecting final product quality. to analyze performance of production process as well as to analyze some main quality parameters of final products by using quality management techniques i.e fishbone diagram and control chart. The other objective of this research is to identify the causes of problems in production process and to recommend the remedies for the such problems by using knowledge base developed from knowledge acquisition process including observation. intensive literature survey and in depth interview with experts. Fishbone diagram developed in this research shows that the most important factors in the production process of medium size paper are screening. cleaning. refining. mixing and composing. These five important factors are used to measure the performance of production process. The process performance measurement results using X-R chart shows that the production process of medium size paper is in colltrol ill 3-sigma interval. In addition, this research also examines the filial product quality. The parameters used for examining final product quality are tensile strength. ring crush. internal bonding and water absorptioll capacity. The final product quality measurement results using X-R chart also show that the final product is ill control in 3-sigma interval. This research also produces an appropriate knowledge-base that can be used to diagnose problems ill production process and gives recommendations or remedies to fIX such problems.
