Dry Matter Digestibility, Protein Digestibility and Nitrogen Retention of Weaning Local Male Rabbit on Substitution Soybean Meal with Bauhinia pururea L.
Abstract
Bauhinia purpurea L. is a potential legume for rabbit fodder, it contains protein 21.l3%. Rabbit is one of a meat source originating from animal. because rabbit is a prolific animal and easy to rared. Twenty five weaning local male rabbit with average body weight 853 ± 117 gram were used. The aim of this experiment are to recognize the Bauhinia purpurea L. effect that may subtitute soybean meal as a source protein, by detennining the dry matter digestibility, protein digestibility ang nitrogen retention. Completely Randomized Design was used in the experiment. It consisted of five treatments and four replications. The composition of the treatment rations were soybean meal, Bauhinia purpurea L. and concentrate 60%(yellow com 24%, rice brand 12%, wheat brand 20%, coconut oil 2%, CaC03 1% and premix 1%). The ratio of soybean meal: Bauhinia purpurea L. in the diet were (Rl) 40%:0%, (R2) 30%: \0%, (RJ) 20%:20%, (R4) 10%:30% and (RS) 0%:40%. The result showed that the treatment did not significant influence dry matter digestibility, protein digestibility and nitrogen retention. Bauhinia purpurea L. can be used until 40% in the rabbit ration. Key word : Bauhinia purpurea L., soybean meal, dry matter digestibility, protein digestibility, nitrogen retention
