Potency of Ruminant Forage in Karacak Village, Leuwiliang, Bogor.
Abstract
The increasing of human population may cause the raising of food demand especially animal protein. Ruminants are potential livestock to be developed, because it could contribute mostly of meet supply. Therefore, it is required a priority zone to be developed as animal fanning area, in Indonesia. where the animal farm distribution is not spread evenly. The first step of animal zone is acquainted with each potential area that determined a number of animals which still can be developed in an area. This research was aimed to estimate potency forage by Nell and Rollinson method, and SWOT analysis to provide the advantage in fonn of information to plan the area and arrange development direction policy. Data were collected from two sources, they were (I) primary data from direct interview with the farmers, officials, and associate institution with structured questionair contribution, (2) secondary data from Villages Profile, Sub District Profile, Agricultural and Bogor Animal Farm Agency and associate institution supported this research. Where as the analysis and data were processed by using Nell and Rollinson method., botanical analysis, and SWOT analysis. The result of Nell and Rollinson method showed that Karacak village had 597,748 ton/year for forage potential, thus it still retained animal for 134 Animal Unit Area development strategy for animal farm in Karacak village was be set up on on the basic of SWOT analysis, such diversification in which had some treats, but internally still had strength.
