      Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the use of fat from black soldier fly (BSF) and palm oil to see the pattern of rumen fermentability and nutrient digestibility in vitro. The experiment was conducted using a completely randomized design in triplicate and four treatments including palm oil, BSF oil, BSF oil extraction results, and encapsulation of BSF oil extraction results. The variables observed in this study were the yield of BSF oil extraction results, analysis of BSF oil fatty acid profile and evaluation of rumen fermentability and in vitro feed nutrient digestibility. The data were analyzed using the ANOVA test and if there was a significant difference, it was followed by the Duncan test. The study showed that supplementation of 3% palm oil, BSF oil, BSF oil extraction results with and without encapsulation can be used as an energy source without having a negative effect on the quality of rumen fermentation and nutrient digestibility in vitro. However, extracted BSF oil with and without encapsulation can reduce the protozoan population (defaunation) in the rumen.
