      Abstract

This research was aimed to analyze the effect of providing creep feed rations with different protein sources indigofera and maggot meal on hematology and blood metabolite profiles of weaned Dorper lambs. This study used 21 weaned Dorper lambs in a Compeletely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 7 replicates. The treatments consisted of PM = feed of Martabe Farm, P1 = creep feed containing indigofera, and P2 = creep feed containing maggot meal. Parameters measured were nutrient intake (dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber), hematology (erythrocytes, leukocytes, hematocrit, hemoglobin, leukocyte differentiation), and blood metabolite (glucose, cholestrol, and blood urea nitrogen). The results showed that providing creep feed rations either with indigofera or maggot meal increased nutrient intake but did not change the hematology and blood metabolite profiles of weaned Dorper lambs. It is concluded that utilization of indigofera or maggot meal in creep feed increased erythrocytes and BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) levels in the blood, yet still remains within the normal range.
