An experiment was conducted from December 3, 1982 to January 28, 1983 at Department of Animal Nutrition, Facul ty of Animal Science, Bogor Agriculture University.
The main objectives of this experiment was to deter- mine the lysine requirement of broilers ration with corn as the major cereal grain on body weight gain, body weight at eight weeks of age, feed consumption, feed conversion, mortality, and income over feed and chick cost.
The experimental material were used 180 day old male chicks of CP 707 strain. After wing banding the chicks were kept in wire boxes with wire floors of 1 X 1 X 0.5 m in measure. 3
The experimental design was Completely Randomized De- sign. There were four ration treatments and three repli- cation. In replication consist of 15 chicks. The four ra tions (R, RR, Re, and Ro) have been supplemented with 0, 0.4, 0.8, 8'and'1.5 nd' 1.2 percent lysine. The percentage of lysi- ne was based on 100 kg ration. Rations and water were pro vided ad libitum.
After eight weeks of age, the average body weight ga- in was respectively 1 534.85 gram (R), 1 455.26 gram (Rg), 1 520.45 gram (R), and 1 514.97 gram (R); the average body weight at eight weeks was 1 586.86 gram (R), 1 505.05 gram (Rg), 1 559.54 gram (R), and 1 553.67 gram (R); the average feed consumption was 492.77 gram (RA), gram (R), 478.17 gram (R), and 474.62 gram (RA); 473.35 the ave rage feed conversion was 2.60 (RA), 2.63 (Rg), 2.51 (Rc), and 2.49 (Rp).
Statistical analysis showed that there were no signifi cant effect of treatments on body weight gain, body weight at eight weeks of age, feed consumption, and feed conversi- on....
