Aktivitas antioksidan dan antihiperkolesterolemia eksuak beta glukan dari Saccharomyces cerevisiae pada tikus putih
Abstract
The effect of beta glucan extract on total cholesterol level, trigliseride and lipid peroxide were studied in male white rat. The animals had been divided into five groups of treatments which contained six rats in every group : the first group was the rat with normal cholesterol, the 2" had hypemholestemlemia control (20 g/kgBW/day), the 3" group had extract beta glucan from Saccharomyces cerevisiae which isolated from bakers yeast treatment, the 4" group have the same beta glucm treatment yeast of '?ape'' origin and the last group had standard beta lucan treatment ti (1 mg/kgBW/day). Hypercholesterolernia condition reached on day 21 , aRer having been induced with PTU and fed by cholesterolic foods. Cholesterol of hypercholesterolemia control group increased up to 209% compared with the baseline values. The rat weight was increased 13% after treatment. All treated samples had significantly reduced blood lipid peroxide level between 8-50% lower than hypercholesterolemia control group(P<0.05). The hypocholesterolemia effect from the three extracts was revealed on day 2 1' to 28h with significant blood cholesterol reduction (6247%) which were lower than the hypercholesterolemia group (p<0.05). The beta glucan extract the from thee isolates codd repress the increased level of blood cholesterol 20-28% lower than hyperchotesterolemia control group, but it seemed not to be consistent because they could only repress the increasing level by day 7' dan 2gh (pAI.05). At the end of hypercholesterolemia induction the level of cholesterol and trigliseride returned into normal conditions. On this circumstances, the hypercholesterolemia effect of the three isolates was revealed. At the end of research, antioxidant activities of the three extracts was able to reduce the liver lipid peroxide level significantly between 3 1-34% lower than the hypercholesterolemia control group.
