Induksi Pematangan Gonad Pada Ikan Lele Mutiara (Clarias gariepinus) Jantan Menggunakan Plasma Darah Domba Jantan

Abstract

Pearl catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is one type of freshwater consumption fish with high economic value and is one of the main fishery commodities in Indonesia. One of the obstacles in catfish hatcheries is the availability of seeds thatdepend on spawning activities so that good broodstock quality is also needed. Thisstudy aims to test the induction of male catfish gonad maturation using ram blood plasma as a new alternative gonad maturation hormone. This study used complete randomized design consisting of three treatments with 15 individual replicates each.The method of hormone administration to be used is the intramuscular injection method. The results showed that the P1.0 treatment was the best treatment in increasing gonad maturation. The P1.0 treatment experienced the highest increase of 2.8 times (P < 0.05) when compared to the P0.0 treatment at the end of maintenance, while the P0.5 treatment experienced an increase of 1.6 times (P>0.05) when compared to the P0.0 treatment at the end of maintenance. The results showed that induction of gonadal maturation using ram blood plasma provedto be able to increase gonadal maturity in male catfish in 28 days of maintenance.
