      Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of BSF maggot supplementation on the internal organs and digestive tract of Lohmann Brown laying hens. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatment and 5 replications with 10 hens per replication. The treatment diets used were P0 = control diet (0% BSF maggot); P1 = diet with 6.7% BSF maggot; P2 = diet with 13% BSF maggot. The variables observed were the percentage of internal organ weight and the percentage of weight and relative length of the digestive tract. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and if significant differences were found (P<0,05), Tukey's test was performed for further analysis. The results indicated that the supplementation of BSF maggots significantly (P<0,05) reduced the percentage of pancreatic weight, increased the percentage of duodenum weight and colon weight. In conclusion, the provision of dried BSF maggots affected the internal organ and digestive tract. The supplementation of 13% BSF maggots decreased in the percentage of pancreatic weight, an increased in the percentage of duodenum weight and colon weight in Lohmann Brown laying hens.
