      Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the quality of protein concentrate from maggots as an alternative to meat bone meal in IPB-D1 local chickens in the starter and finisher phases. This study used 300 day old chicks (DOC) from local IPB-D1 chickens that were reared for 11 weeks with 3 treatments and 10 replications. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), with treatment P1 = ration containing 5% meat bone meal, P2 = ration containing 5% maggot control, and P3 = ration containing 5% deffated maggot. The variables measured were feed consumption, body weight, body weight gain, feed conversion, mortality, and income over feed and chick cost (IOFCC). Data were analyzed using variance analysis (ANOVA) and Duncan's further test. The results showed the effect of using 5% deffated maggot on increasing body weight gain and reducing feed conversion. In conclusion, the use of 5% deffated maggot can improve efficiency in the finisher period feed, but the 5% control maggot ration has no effect on the performance of IPB-D1 local chickens reared for 11 weeks.
