      Abstract
Plantation crops commonly found in Lombok Barat are coconut, coffee, clove, cashew nut. The plantation sub sector contributed towards the agricultural sector about 18.26 % in 2000, while coconut is the main product of plantation commodities about 76.11 % beside from coffee about 8.06 % and cashew nut about 5.67 %. Others commodities only contributed below 4 % and the smallest one is the cotton about 0.001 %. In this regency plantation commodities are traditionally used for food or livestock feed, but potentially introduce for use ii;i a wide range of industrial applications. The objective of this research is to design the information system for publication of the plantation commodities. The development of a web-based system by integrating GIS and RDBMS could serve two crucial purposes, where internet based geographical data services involve management of spatial and nonspatial (attribute) data. The Internet and Web-based GIS is an effective medium for publication of spatial data. Web-based GIS is not a single technology, there are many component combined to build web based GIS, such as software, hardware. The system development lifecycle (SDLC) is an application of the systems approach to the development of a computer-based information system or subsystem. SDLC consist of a series of task that closely follow the step of the system approach. The system life cycle consist of five phases. The first four (planning, analysis, design, and implementation) are devoted to development. The fifth phase is devoted to use. The result of this research showed the spatial information and non spatial information by using web based information system. Database as one of the development phase designed to support spatial and non spatial information, which are divided into three steps: conceptual design, logical design and physical design. There are some spatial information displayed in the web such as five kinds of plantation areas (Coffee, coconut, cashew nut, tobacco and vanilla) and infrastructures (roads and markets). Plantation areas on Lombok Barat regency founded in almost all of districts, where southern part of regency especially Bayan and Gangga districts founded wide areas for coffee and coconut plantation. Traditional market located on each districts and Narmada districts located six traditional market. Non spatial data resulted from system such as production of plantation and other information about plantation commodities. Web based Geographic Information System (GIS) will bring new approach for querying information and display production area of the plantation commodities which are interactively communicate with user to query and to display map.
