      Abstract

Cinnamaldehyde is the main ingredient in cinnamon essential oil which has the ability to increase the utilization of feed energy sources so that fish growth performance is more efficient. This study was intended to get the effective dose of cinnamaldehyde addition to feed to improve the growth performance of vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). The study consisted of five different treatments with four replications in each treatment. The doses of cinnamaldehyde used in this study were 0 ml/kg, 0,5 ml/kg, 1 ml/kg, 1,5 ml/kg, and 2 ml/kg. Vaname shrimp size 2.06 ± 0.02 g were kept in 60 x 40 x 40 cm3 aquarium with a water level of 30 cm. Each aquarium was filled with 15 shrimps (60 shrimps/m2 ) and fed the treatments four times a day restricted for 60 days. The results showed that the growth, feed efficiency, protein efficiency ratio and feed conversion of vaname shrimp treated with cinnamaldehyde were better and significantly different from SN 0 (P < 0.05). The highest growth performance value was obtained in vaname shrimp fed with the addition of 1,5 ml/kg cinnamaldehyde dose (P < 0.05).
