      Abstract

In Vitro test of sago stems (Metroxylon sp) on beef cattle rations. Guided by DIDID DIAPARI and HERI AHMAD SUKRIA. This study aims to evaluate the use of sago stems as feed for beef cattle in vitro. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 5 treatments and 4 groups. The treatments used consisted of P0 (control ration: 20% forage + 80% concentrate), P1 (20% forage + 67.5% concentrate + 12.5% sago stalks), P2 (20% forage + 55% concentrate + 25 % sago stalks), P3 (20% forage + 42.5% concentrate + 37.5% sago stalks), and P4 (20% forage + 30% concentrate + 50% sago stalks). The parameters measured in this study were the degree of acidity (pH) in fermentor, dry matter digestibility coefficient, organic matter digestibility coefficient, NH3 concentration, and total VFA concentration. The results showed that the use of 37.5% whole sago stalks into the diet significantly increased KCBK, KCBO, and total VFA concentration measured (P<0.05), except for the degree of acidity (pH) in the rumen and NH3 concentration.
