      Abstract

The study aimed to examine the effect of supplementation of E. faecalis probiotics from maggot H. illucens with different levels on in vitro digestibility and rumen fermentability. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with 3 treatments and 4 replicates. The treatments were P0 (diet without probiotic), P1 (diet supplemented with 0.5% probiotics), and P2 (diet supplemented with 1% probiotics). Parameters on this research are pH value, NH3 (ammonia), total VFA (volatile fatty acid), partial VFA, methane gas production (CH4), rumen protozoa population, rumen bacterial population, dry matter digestibility (DMD), and organic matter digestibility (OMD). The results showed that each treatment have no significant effect on pH value, NH3 (ammonia), partial VFA, CH4, rumen protozoa population, rumen bacterial population, dry matter digestibility (DMD), and organic matter digestibility (OMD), but supplementation of 0.5% probiotics E. faecalis had a significant effect on reducing total VFA. It can be concluded that Supplementation of probiotic E. faecalis from maggot H. illucens at the level of 0.5 and 1% has not been able to work optimally on rumen fermentability and digestibility. Supplementation of probiotic E. faecalis at the levels of 0.5% and 1% did not interfere with the fermentation activity in the rumen.
