      Abstract
The experiment was aimed at evaluating dry matter intake and nutrient digestibility in Garut breed ewes offered ration differing in dietary cation anion ratio and supplemented with organic chromium (Cr) from Ganoderma lucidum. Twenty four female Garut breed sheep aged two years with initial weight of 27.70 ± 2.24 kg were alocated into a Randomized Block Design. The sheep were grouped into 4 weight groups based on their initial weight and allocated into six experimental rations. The experimental rations were: 1) RA = basal diet, 2) RB = basal diet + 3 ppm inorganic cromium, 3) RC = basal diet + 3 ppm organic Cr from rice straw, 4) RD = basal diet + 3 ppm organic Cr from oil palm by fiber, 5) RE = basal diet with DCAB –10 +3 ppm organic Cr from rice straw and 6) RF = basal diet with DCAB –10 + 3 ppm organic Cr from oil palm fiber. There were no effect of dietary cation anion ratio and organic Cr supplementation on dry matter intake, palatability, daily gain and nutrient digestibility. The result indicated that manipulation of dietary anion cation balance and supplementation of Cr at those levels were had no effect on palatability of feed, dry matter intakes, weight gain and nutrient digestibility. Keywords: anion, cation, chromium, digestibility, fiber, Garut sheep
