      Pengembangan Unit Pengutip dan Penampang Kolektor Brondolan Sawit Tipe Gagang (ERBRON-C3)

      Abstract
      Kolektor brondolan sawit tipe gagang sebelumnya telah dikembangkan oleh tim dari Institut Pertanian Bogor, dengan alat bernama ERBRON-C. Namun demikian, banyak brondolan tidak terkutip karena berada pada cekungan tanah. Selain itu unit pengutip yang digunakan pada mekanisme penjepitan masih kurang kaku, yang berakibat pada mudah lepasnya brondolan yang dijepit. Sehingga perlu dikembangkan desain yang lebih cocok pada kolektor tipe gagang agar mampu mengatasi kelemahan dari desain sebelumnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah merancang bangun kolektor brondolan sawit tipe gagang agar memiliki kapasitas kerja yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan ERBRON-C tipe gagang, serta mampu mengutip brondolan sawit pada lahan tidak rata. Penelitian ini terdiri dari beberapa tahapan, antara lain: identifikasi dan perumusan masalah, perancangan dan evaluasi konsep desain, analisis teknik, gambar teknik, pembuatan prototipe, uji fungsional, dan uji kinerja alat. Adapun keunggulan alat berpelat melengkung dibandingkan dengan alat berpelat datar adalah kapasitas kerja yang lebih besar, yakni 0,674 kg/menit dibandingkan dengan 0,460 kg/menit. Selain itu, keunggulan lainnya yakni pada tingkat efektivitas pengutipan pada lahan tidak rata. Menggunakan alat berpelat melengkung efektivitas pengutipan rata-rata mencapai 77,4%, dibandingkan alat berpelat datar yang hanya sebesar 43%. Sedangkan kelemahan alat berpelat melengkung dibandingkan dengan alat berpelat datar ialah pada jumlah kotoran yang terbawa pada proses pengutipan serta tingkat kerusakan buah yang lebih tinggi.
       
      The handle-type palm loose fruit collector had previously been developed by a team from the Bogor Agricultural University, with a tool called ERBRON-C. Many loose fruits are not collected because they are in soil basins. In addition, the fruit collector unit used in the clamping mechanism is still less rigid, which results in easy release of the clamped loose buds. So it is necessary to develop a design that is more suitable for the handle type collector in order to be able to overcome the weaknesses of the previous design. The purpose of this study to design a handle type palm loose fruit collector with a larger capasity than the ERBRON-C handle type, and be able to pick up loose palm fruit on uneven ground. This research consists of several stages, including: identification and formulation of problems, planning and evaluation of design concepts, technical analysis, engineering drawings, prototyping, functional testing, and tool performance testing. The advantages of the curved plate tool compared with a flat plate tool is a larger working capacity, which is 0.674 kg/min, compared to 0.460 kg/min. In addition, another advantages is the level of effectiveness on uneven ground. Using the curved plate tool the average effectiveness reached 77.4%, compared to the flat plated tool which was only 43%. While the weakness of curved plate tool compared to flat plate tool is the amount of dirt carried on the quoting process and a higher level of fruit damage.
