      Abstract

The method that can be applied in feeding is by applying certain conditions to create a conditioned response fish can be trained to approach the feeding location. The use of light to train tilapia to gather near at the time of feeding which makes the fish will approach the feeding location so the feeding process will be more efficient. This study purposed to evaluate the effectiveness of the conditioned feeding method using a light as stimulus on the growth and response of tilapia. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications; Control(without light treatment), P1(random light color, random feeding side, without stressor), P2(blue light color, feeding side same as light side, without stressor), P3(blue light color, feeding side same as light side, with stressor). The result showed that the conditioned feeding method using light stimulus had no significant effect (P>0,05) on growth and feed efficiency, but light stimulus and training time had a significant effect (P<0,05) on fish response of tilapia to approach stay at light side.
