GAMBARAN SITOLOGI ULAS VAGINA KAMBING PERANAKAN ETAWAH SETELAH SINKRONISASI ESTRUS

Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine estrous time through vaginal cytology description and its correlation with clinical signs of estrus on Etawah cross breed (ECB) goats. Fifteen sexually mature and healthy does were shyncronized with 7.5 mg prostaglandin. Clinical signs of estrous and vaginal cytology observed when standing heat sign was seen. The result showed that the response of synchronization using single dose prostaglandin on ECB were 60% with the onset of estrus was 78.6 hours (72-84 hours) and the duration of estrus was 44 hours (12-60 hours). Clinical signs of estrous on ECB generally showed moderate intensity(++). Vaginal cytology of nonestrus and estrus phase was different (p<0.5). Superficial cells and intermediate cells number were higher in estrous phase compared with nonestrous. It was concluded that vaginal cytology could be used to indicate of estrous time.
