Abstract: The objective of this study is to examine the characteristics and food consumption pattern of obese diabetic patient. The study was carried out at “Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital” in Jakarta. Samples of 40 respondents were selected from NIDDM patients without complications and with BMI greater than 27. Data collected included food pattern, food consumption, and blood glucose. The result showed that 42% of patients aged between 41-50 years old. The average value of BMI was 32 for women and 33 for men. The average energy consumption per day was 2129 calories, protein was 37 gram, fat was 62 gram, and carbohydrate was 358 gram.
