Abstract: The research was aimed at studying the morphological changes of tolerant and susceptible soybean genotypes exposed to drought stress and inoculated with mycorrhiza. In this study Sindoro, Lokon, and MLG 3474 genotypes infected with Glomus etunicatum were tested at three levels of drought stress, e.g. : 80%, 60%, and 40% of field capacity (FC). The experiment was conducted in green house at the experimental field of Meteorological Station, Sampali, Medan, from September 2001 to January 2002. The results showed that drought stress at 40% FC suppressed leaf area and stem diameter. The positive role of VAM in supporting plant to overcome the drought stress inpacts was more significant in the less tolerant than that of more tolerant genotypes.
