Abstract: The change of natural areas into industrial timber plantations will potentially decrease biodiversity. This study aimed to examine the composition, conservation status, as well as the diversity of amphibians in the region of PT. Wana Hijau Pesaguan, West Kalimantan, within its protected areas and surrounding areas. Data were collected on 20th to 29th May 2014, using Visual Encounter Survey (VES) method with Transect Design and Time-Constrained Technique. We found 27 amphibian species from six families. There is a bias in the study because several location categorized as outside protected areas were still unopened, resulting amphibian diversity is higher than protected areas. Nevertheless, it is clear that the composition of amphibian in disturbed areas is dominated by species that used to live near human civilization such as Fejervarya limnocharis and Polypedates leucomystax. If areas in outside protected area will be opened for acacia planting, it is estimated that the number of the species will decrease.
