Abstract: Priacanthus tayenus (Richardson 1846) is one of economic important demersal fish originally distributed in Sunda Strait. The fish has long been exploited; however, present stock status has not yet been assess. Therefore, in order to prevent overexploitation, its stock should be well studied. This study was aim at assessing reproduction biology and population dynamic of Purple-spotted bigeye (Priacanthus tayenus) in the Sunda Strait landed in Labuan Beach Fishing Port, Banten province. This study covered some aspects of reproduction, growth, and the rate of exploitation. Spawning time Purple-spotted bigeye was commenced in June to October. Size at first maturity in respect to female and male was 127,67 mm and 268,78 mm. Exploitation rates of female and male individuals were 71% and 64%, respectively. It is concluded that purple-spotted bigeye in Sunda Strait is overexploited.
