Abstract: Carrageenan waste is a by-product of red seaweeds processing from Rhodophyceae class that has not been utilized. Carrageenan waste is suggested to contain minerals that can be used as plant nutrients. Th e purpose of this study was to use carrageenan waste as an organic fertilizer pastes for jabon seedlings on degraded land. Organic fertilizer pastes were made from carrageenan waste fertilizer and commercial compost fertilizer with various formulations. Each formulation was tested on jabon seedling to the parameter of height, diameter, and biomass. Carrageenan waste has high moisture and a variety of nutrients needed for crops such as C, N, P, and K. Th e optimum of height, diameter, and biomass of jabon seedling optimum found when 85% carrageenan waste fertilizer pastes with 15% compost was used. Th e high of jabon seedling was 8.72 cm with an increase of 60.89% for control; best diameter jabon seedling that was equal to 0.067 cm with an increase of 74.03% of the control, as well as the biomass of 4.85 g/week. Treatment of 100% and 85% carrageenan waste fertilizer pastes with mixture 15% of compost could improve physical properties of degraded soil. Both treatments increased the pH and some nutrients in the soil even though the soil did not meet the general standards.
