Konservasi Species Endemik dan Terancam Punah Yaki (Macaca nigra) di Cagar Alam Tangkoko-Batuangus, Sulawesi Utara: Kajian Ekologi Nutrisi dan Regim Kompetisi

Abstract

Yaki (Macaca nigra) is one of the endemic spe(;ies in northern of the Sulawesi Island that its population tends to decrease consequence of habitat damage and illegal hunt, so its status is critically endangered. Field research is conducted in Preserve TangkokoBatuangus (CATB) during the month of Juli-Agustus 2009. Intention of research is to know group distribution and structure, population, homerange and daily range and habitat condition of Yaki. Method that used to know group distribution and population is direct/indirect encounter method whereas habitat condition is conducted with method of vegetation analysis. Research meets 10 groups Yaki, where 4 groups become group sampel. Group density Yaki in CATB is 0,65 groups per km2 and population density 34 individuals per km2. Group Y aki haves size 14-72 individuals per group and occupy homerange 34-140 ha by daily range the average of 2.644 m. Yaki is the primate that can adapt with several of habitat types, begin at coppice habitat till to primary forest, begin at coast forest to mountain forest.
