Abstract: Bioconversion of xylose-into-xylitol using Candida tripocalis become an alternative method to produce xylitol in low cost and efficient so it can fulfilled the xylitol availability in xylitol trading which is relatively low. The aim of this experiment was to optimize aeration and addition of cosubstrate. Aeration conditions used were 25.0, 32.5, 50.0, 67.5, and 75.0 mL in 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask and co-substrate concentrations added were 15.0, 30.0, 45.0, and 60.0 gr1 • Xylitol concentration was determined by spectrophotometer method at 492 nm. The results showed that, the optimum aeration condition was 75 mL fermentation medium in 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask with xylitol concentration of 6.3790 gr1 • Addition of co-substrate to the fermentation medium decreased the xylitol production 76.82%.
