Abstract

Rice husk is a side product from rice mills that potential to be developed. Until now, rice husk has not been utilized optimally. Innovations to utilize the rice husk is to process the husk into a particle board using hot compression technology. This research aims to design a business plan of manufacturing particle board from the rice husk through cooperative entrepreneur approach. The market target of this product is China’s furniture industries. Particle board are sold with the price of USD20 or Rp240 000. The results of financial analysis from this business plan said to be worthy to realized, judging from investment criteria that the NPV of Rp6 175 368 591, Net B/C of 3.5, IRR of 54 percent of Gross B/C of 1.2 and Payback Period for 2.6 years. Net profit earned in the first year of Rp88 389 793 and years later of Rp257 285 213. Through cooperative entrepreneur approach, the farmers obtain additional benefit from the husk, therefore increasing the farmers’s income.
