Human activities will affect on an increasing of land-use change and landscape structure associated with the level of land fragmentation. This research aims to assess the dynamics of land use change and the fragmentation level of agricultural land and built-up land in peri urban of Jakarta. The existence of paddy fields, excavation C and forests accelerate the dynamics of land use change significantly in the study area. The result of agricultural land fragmentation analysis shows that districts which were closer to large cities tend to have lower NumP parameter, which indicates that built-up polygon has united into a single compact polygon. Areas affected by major cities i.e Jakarta and Depok has small TE and NumP, while MPS value was only influenced by the proximity to Depok. The analysis of built-up land fragmentation shows that the fringe of big city has a smaller rate of NumP and TE and more significant decrease of MPS compared to region farther from the big city. NumP, TE and MPS can be used to determine the rate of development and the pattern of development in the region. Areas affected by large cities are likely to have a stable lower rate of development with a homogeneous built-up land, whereas the distant regions to big cities are possibly to have a complex and greater rate of development with a heterogeneous built-up land. The results of multiple regression analysis for the village and neighborhood (RT) scale show that the main variables influencing agricultural land fragmentation are land ownership and accessibility, while factors affecting builtup land fragmentation are land ownership, land prices and accessibility.en
