| dc.description.abstract | Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) plays an important role in the regulation of blood pressure. ACE works by converting inactive decapeptide angiotensin I to angiotensin II which can increase blood pressure (hypertension). Kumis kucing and tempuyung plants were macerate using water and the yield were 11% and 9%, respectively. Total flavonoid content of kumis kucing and tempuyung’s extracts were 2.33×10-1% and 1.07×10-1%, respectively. The ACE inhibitory activity were tested and gave 69% for single extract of 50 ppm kumis kucing, 40% for single extract of 50 ppm tempuyung, and 88% for captopryl (control) at 25 ppm concentration. The inhibition of a single extract kumis kucing at a concentration of 50 ppm can be a natural ACE inhibitors and may is potential as an antihypertensive. | en |
