This experiment was aimed at investigating the capability of crude extract of mulberry leaves that contain l-deoxynojirimycin in increasing fermentability of fibrous feed in ruminal systems. This experiment was conducted according to completely randomized block design consisted of three treatments and four replications. The treatments were: QO (50% rice straw + 50% concentrate) as a control, Ql (50% rice straw + 25% concentrate + 25% mulberry leaves), Q2 (50% rice sh'aw + 50% concentrate + Crude extract of mulberry leaves). Variables measured were ruminal fermentability (NH3 and VFA concentrations), pH, gas production, dry matter and organic matter degradation. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and treatment effects were further analyzed using Duncan multiple range test. The experiment showed that treatments affected (P < 0.05) gas production, dry matter and organic matter degradation. However, there was no (P > 0.05) effect on other variables. It is concluded that crude extract of mulberry leaves contain l-deoxynojiromycin increases fermentability of feed as source of fiber in ruminal system.en
