Pengaruh penggunaan jejaring sosial dan gaya pengasuhan terhadap Self-steem dan kecenderungan narsisistik pada remaja

Abstract

Berkembangnya penggunaan jejaring sosial dewasa ini semakin pesat, terlebih di kalangan remaja dengan ditunjang oleh berbagai fasilitas untuk memudahkan mengakses akun jejaring sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan jejaring sosial dan gaya pengasuhan terhadap self-esteem dan narsisistik pada remaja. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI di dua sekolah Kabupaten dan dua sekolah di Kota Bogor. Contoh diambil dengan menggunakan proportional random sampling sebanyak 120 contoh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan jejaring sosial di kota lebih tinggi dibandingkan di kabupaten. Sebagian besar orangtua menerapkan gaya pengasuhan otoritatif. Tidak terdapat perbedaan self-esteem dan kecenderungan narsisistik di kabupaten dengan di kota. Berdasarkan hasil uji regresi, menunjukkan bahwa gaya pengasuhan otoritatif berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap self-esteem. Gaya pengasuhan permisif berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap self-esteem. Gaya pengasuhan otoriter dan jumlah kepemilikan akun jejaring sosial berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kecenderungan narsisistik. Self-esteem berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap kecenderungan narsisistik.

Nowadays, social network usage is growing more rapidly, especially among teenagers and it is supported by a range of facilities to access their social network account even easier. This study aimed to find out the effect of social network usage and parenting style on adolescents’ self-esteem and narcissistic tendency. The population of this study were 11th grade students in four schools, two schools in Bogor Regency and two schools in Bogor Municipality. Samples were taken by using proportional random sampling which amounted to 120 samples. The findings showed that social network usage in Municipality is higher than Bogor Regency. Almost parents adopt authoritative parenting style. There were no differences between self-esteem and narcissistic tendency in Bogor Regency and in Municipality. Regression test showed that authoritative parenting style had a significant positive effect on self-esteem. On the other hand, permissive parenting style had a significant negative effect on self-esteem. Regression test showed that authoritarian parenting style and the amount of account social network had a significant positive effect on narcissistic tendency. Self-esteem had a significant negative effect on narcissistic tendency.
