Abstract: Buah tropika Indonesia diharapkan dapat menjadi buah tropis dunia yang menjadi tuan rumah di negeri sendiri sehingga mampu meningkatkan pendapatan petani dan devisa negara. Kegiatan optimalisasi technology services dalam pengembangan wirausaha benih dan bibit pepaya yaitu mencakup: (1) diseminasi produk (2) komersialisasi benih dan bibit pepaya (Callina, Sukma dan Carisya) dan (3) teknologi budidaya pepaya berbasis SOP (Standar Operasional Produksi). Pelaksanaan optimalisasi tersebut merupakan rangkaian beberapa komponen kegiatan, yaitu: (1) pengelolaan kebun koleksi plasma nutfah, (2) pengelolaan kebun pohon induk/calon varietas dan (3) pengelolaan kebun benih sebar. Keluaran dari kegiatan ini adalah SDG (sumber daya genetik) sebagai sumber bahan varietas unggul buah koleksi PKHT LPPM IPB tetap dikelola dengan baik dan ditingkatkan keunggulannya, diseminasi dan komersialisasi produk hasil inovasi, dan teknologi hasil penelitian PKHT LPPM IPB, sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan oleh petani dan masyarakat Indonesia.
Indonesian tropical fruit is expected to become a main commodity in horticulture business that contribute to increase farmers and government income. To achieve the purpose, capacity building for the farmers required among others trough the optimization technology services. In papaya seeds and seedlings business, this optimization technology services comprises of : (1) dissemination products from innovation (2) commercialization of seeds and seedlings (Callina, Sukma and Carisya variety) and (3) cultivation technology based on Standard Operating Production. The optimization initiated by serial activities on the orchard are: (1) orchard management of germplasm collection, (2) the parent trees and candidate varieties orchard management, and (3) seed management. The output of this PKHT LPPM IPB activities are establishing well managed germplasm collection as a source of high quality varieties, dissemination and commercialization of products from innovation, and technology research implementation.
