Abstract: Budaya memegang peran penting dalam ketersediaan pangan masyarakat dan pola konsumsi, yang pada akhirnya akan berdampak pada status gizi dan kesehatan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis (1) ciri sosioekonomi rumah tangga; (2) status gizi anak; dan (3) mekanisme bertahan (coping mechanism) untuk mendukung kecukupan pangan rumah tangga. Penelitian dilakukan pada masyarakat adat Ciptagelar, Jawa Barat, dan berlangsung dari MaretOktober 2013. Sampel dipilih sebanyak 65 rumah tangga. Rata-rata pendapatan rumah tangga adalah Rp285.753,00 per kapita per bulan, sedangkan pengeluaran totalnya mencapai Rp393.590,00. Prevalensi bobot rendah (underweight) pada anak 12,5%, pengerdilan (stunting) 31,2%, dan wasting 12,5%. Mekanisme bertahan yang dilakukan masyarakat ketika menghadapi kendala pendapatan adalah membeli makanan yang lebih murah harganya, mengurangi jenis pangan yang dikonsumsi, dan mengubah prioritas pangan.
Culture plays an important role in food availability and consumption pattern, which then affects nutritional status and health. The objectives of the study were to analyze (1) socio-economic characteristics of household, (2) nutritional status of children, and (3) coping mechanism to support food access. The study was conducted in Ciptagelar Traditional Community, West Java from MarchOctober 2013. Total sample was 65 households. The average income per capita per month was Rp285.753,00 and total expenditure was Rp393.590,00. The underweight prevalence among children was 12.5%, stunting 31.2%, and wasing 12.5%. Coping mechanisms to face income constraint were buying cheaper foods, reducing kinds of food consumed, and changing food priority.
