Abstract: Zeolit adalah mineral yang memiliki struktur berongga yang dapat menyerap molekul lain. Penggunaan zeolit dapat meningkatkan efisiensi pakan dan mengurangi kelembaban litter dengan menghambat pertumbuhan dan kerja mikroorganisme. Berdasarkan kemampuannya, zeolit dapat digunakan dalam pakan ayam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efek dari zeolit terhadap performa ayam kampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan 320 ekor ayam kampung yang dipelihara selama enam minggu dan dibagi menjadi 16 kandang masingmasing berisi 20 ekor ayam kampung. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Taraf penggunaan zeolit yang digunakan adalah 0%, 0.5%, 1.0% dan 1.5%, masing-masing dengan 4 ulangan dan 20 ekor kampung per unit percobaan. Peubah yang diukur adalah pertambahan bobot badan harian, konsumsi ransum harian, konversi pakan dan mortalitas. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode analisis ragam (ANOVA). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penambahan zeolit hingga taraf 1.5% tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap konsumsi ransum harian, pertambahan bobot badan harian dan konversi ransum.
Zeolite are minerals that have a hollow structure that can absorb other molecules. The use of zeolite can improve feed efficiency and reduce litter moisture content by inhibiting microbial growth and development. Based on their ability, zeolites therefore can be used in chicken feed. This study aims to assess the effect of zeolite supplemented feed on kampung chicken performances. This research used 320 kampung chickens which were kept for six weeks and divided into 16 cages (each containing 20 kampung chickens). The experimental design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD). The addition of zeolites used were 0%, 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5%, with 4 repetitions (20 chickens/experimental unit). The variables measured were daily feed consumption, daily gain, feed conversion ratio and mortality. Data was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) methods. The result showed that the addition of zeolite to the extent of 1.5% had no significant difference for the daily feed consumption, daily gain and feed conversion ratio.
