Development of aromatic rice varieties based non-transgenic required to obtain an aromatic rice with a high potential. The objectives of this experiment were to study of introduction of aromatic trait from aromatic into nonaromatic rice through crossing and to screen the plants by using molecular markers linked to aromatic trait. Pandan Wangi and Mentik Wangi will be used as aromatic donor parents meanwhile Ciherang are as recurrent parents. Pandan Wangi and Mentik Wangi will be crossed with Ciherang to produce aromatic hybrids. PCR-based markers that will be used in this research i.e. Bradbury primer for detecting the aromatic trait in Ciherang x Mentik Wangi and RM223 primer for Ciherang x Pandan Wangi. Result of the research showed that BC4F1 and BC5F1 hybrid plants have been obtained from both of the crossing combination. Screening of the plants showed that the tested plants have been proved carrying the aromatic trait indicated by the formation of DNA band heterozygous with size 580, 355, and 257 bp for Ciherang x Mentik Wangi and 140 and 160 bp for Ciherang x Pandan Wangi.en
