Abstract: | Industrial activities, domestic, and other activities can give negative impact on water resources, such as quality change of river water. The objectives of this reaserch wereto determine the water quality of rivers in the Brantas watershed with the parameters BOD, COD, and TSS, to analyze the relationship of water quality parameters (BOD , COD , and TSS) to the distance from the shoreline, and tomake the model of river water quality ofBrantas watershed using regression analysis. The reaserch was conducted by collecting secondary data of Brantas River water quality, dischargedata, and rainfall data in Brantas watershed, as well as the digitizing the distance from shoreline using ArcGIS version 10 and Google earth . The results was compared withGoverment Regulation Number 82in 2001. From the analyses results could beconcluded that the water quality in the Brantas river (based on parameters of BOD , COD , and TSS)in the upstream, midstream, and downstream were classified to III grade and water quality changes in the Brantas river was not affected by distance to shoreline. The water riverquality were influenced by the presence of pollutant source area at the Brantas riverside, such as industrial waste, domestic, agriculture, plantation, and farm. In addition, obtained mathematical model of water quality changeswith parameters BOD, COD, and TSS at the maximum discharge condition (February 2013) and minimum discharge (August 2013) |
