Title: Hubungan Kebiasaan Tidur dan Menonton Televisi dengan Status Gizi Remaja di SMP Bina Insani Bogor

Abstract: In Indonesia, especially big cities, there has been lifestyle changing of adolescents who commonly tend to be sedentary physical activities. One of the sedentary physical activities that affect body mass index (BMI) is watching television. In addition, sleeping habits also influence adolescents BMI. The purpose of the present study was to determine the relationship between sleeping and watching television habits on adolescents and BMI. This study used a cross-sectional study design with purposive sampling. Samples consisted of 48 adolescents aged 13–15 years who were junior high school student at Bina Insani Bogor School. The results showed a significant relationship between adolescents BMI with gender (p = 0.01), father's education (p = 0.04), night sleep duration (p = 0.01) and the consumption of snacks while watching television (p = 0.03). However, there was no significant relationship between adolescents BMI with age (p = 0.26), maternal education (p = 0.05), level of physical activities (p = 0.77), night sleep time (p = 0.75), and duration of watching television (p = 0.93).
